Domain specific:

• Quest syntax - A lot of the npc's here do no currently respond to being asked "quest" or "help" and only respond to "task"
• Guild alliances - None. Gont is a pretty neutral area and as such very Newbie friendly, you are not go annoy anyone in any guilds killing any of the stuff there.
• There are a lot of npcs to kill in large quantities, with shops nearby to sell the loot and banks to drop the coins off.  Killing in Gont is considered one of the better places to make money.
• Npc levels small (dock workers), medium (guards), bigger (kargs) not the ones on the beach but in the hidden camp off the Road North and the Mountain caves to the very north. 

Things to watch out for:

• Useful herbs - The path from the South of Gont where the ship to Sparkle is to the North where Aunty is best and only place to find skunk berries, the very very popular healing over time herb.  If you want to make extra cash you can try selling these herbs to larger players, as many will be happy to pay 1 platinum per herb instead of having to spend time finding them themselves.  You can negotiate your own price of course.
• Uber equipment - The Blackened Spiked Platemail can be found sometimes on the hidden guy in a warehouse east of the docks, If you not got the awareness to see if he is there search the crates and try to go down.  Aside from being a great armour it is one of very few armours in the game that deal damage back to things that are attacking you.  The others are spiked helmet from the woman in Kendermore? Gleaming black skullplate from death knight Raumdor, silver spiked targa shield from massive troll near Edoras and blackened kite shield from Colin in Haven and Shale in Flotsam.  The wizard in Cadu has some too, the originals, but they are worthless.
• Uber equipment -  The Mithril Crescent Moon Axe wielded by the kargish priestess in the tower up the cliffs se side of the port is one of the best axes around.  It is the one that chops opponents brains out from time to time.  This weapon doesn't dull!!
• Uber equipment - The Gigantic steel broadsword found on Loran has its own extra damage special and is one of the most damaging two handed swords available. He spends half his time on Gont beach and the other half on the beach in Thwil. *cough* sheep shagger *cough*
• Great equipment - The unholy halberd sometimes wielded by the karg priestesses
• Great equipment -  Alexander's midnight black peacekeeper is one of the better knives around
• Good equipment - The golden winged dragon helm is a very decent head armour
• Good equipment - Alexander's green steel longsword is good, and it raises your discipline a lot useful when u want to attack things that you wouldn't dare to normally.

Free Food:

• Yup - U can get unlimited free food picking apples from the tree located on the village path. Just north of the black smith in the very north of Gont.  (near where the npc Aunty is)

Drink:

• Free water - There are places where u can drink water for free, useful for watering your horse etc
• Bottles - In the pub in gont you can buy big bottles of gontish grog.  <drink from bottle> is the best way to stay absolutely drunk and therefore heal faster, since u have no problems with a drink being too strong for you.  The pub also sells crystal clear liquor one of the strongest drinks around.  If you buy a bunch of those then <fill bottle with drinks> it will last you for a very very long time of killing.

Shortcuts and Hidden areas:

• Hidden Areas - The location of the bigger kargs involves non obvious exits, searching and climbing. But they are really very well known and shown on maps.
• Not many shortcuts, its is a straight forward domain, the beach can also take you to the path northwards.
• There is a trap you can fall into but it isn't a insta death for bigger people. 

Trivia:

• The goats milk u can buy there used to recover your mana when you drank it.  A fact that was frequently used and abused by casters till it got nerfed.
